The experience

The zip line is the centerpiece: 10 lines and 2 suspension bridges strung through the canopy so you see the Mayan jungle from the top of the trees instead of the ground. Kids from 5 years old can ride. The guide handles the setup and the safety check. You operate the equipment and move through the course at your own pace. It takes the morning or early afternoon depending on how many people are on your line, and the park stays uncrowded: that is the operator's stated priority.

Before or after the zip line, you walk through Aktun Chen cave, a passage that formed over 5 million years. It is lit so you can see the rock formations, and the guide points out the geology and the history. Then you swim in the cenote, an underground pool fed by a freshwater river, 100 meters across and clear enough to see the bottom. Snorkeling gear is in the locker room. You choose how long to stay in the water. The park has bathrooms and a place to store your things while you move between the three activities.

The constraint is timing: to do all three, you need to arrive by 1 p.m. The park closes at 5:30 p.m., and the operator needs that window to fit the cave walk, the zip line and the cenote swim without rushing any of them. The guide speaks English or Spanish. Public transportation runs near the park if you are not renting a car.
