You start at Chichen Itza with a bilingual guide who walks you through the Pyramid of Kukulcan and other major structures, then move to a regional buffet lunch and a local stone workshop in Kaua. After that, you swim in the clear waters of Cenote Nool-Ha, surrounded by natural rock formations, and finish with a 30-minute walk through the colonial town of Valladolid. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, along with two water bottles and a life vest for the cenote.
The van picks you up from your Cancun hotel in the early morning and heads straight to Chichen Itza, skipping the heat and crowds that build later. Your certified bilingual guide meets you at the archaeological site and walks you through the Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Temple of Warriors, the ball court, and the observatory — each one a piece of how the Maya actually lived and built. You're not rushing; there's time to stand in front of El Castillo and let the scale of it sink in, to read the carvings, to ask questions. The guide knows the stories behind the structures, not just the names.
After Chichen Itza, you stop in the town of Kaua for a regional buffet lunch. Cochinita Pibil, barbacoa, fresh salads, boiled vegetables, fruit, and traditional Yucatecan desserts — it's the food people actually eat here, not a tourist version of it. You'll also visit a local artisan stone carving workshop, which gives you a sense of how craftspeople in the region still work. Lunch is included; drinks are separate. Two water bottles come with you for the day, which matters in the Yucatan heat.
Then comes Cenote Nool-Ha. It's a natural sinkhole formed when limestone collapsed, and the water inside is so clear you can see the bottom. You swim in it, surrounded by rock formations and vegetation, with a life vest provided if you want one. The cenote was sacred to the Maya — a freshwater source and a ritual site — and standing in the water, you feel why. It's quiet and cool after hours in the sun. Thirty minutes here, and then the drive to Valladolid, a colonial town with colorful buildings, a cathedral, markets, and local food stalls. You have about 30 minutes to walk around, take photos, grab a marquesita if you want one.
The whole day runs long — you're covering distance and seeing four different places — but the van does the driving and the guide handles the timing, so you're not managing logistics or worrying about how to get between sites. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included. Bring comfortable clothes, good walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, biodegradable sunscreen, and your swimming suit. If you want breakfast on the way, there's an upgrade option for a box breakfast and drinks on board.
