Cabo San Lucas: Migriño Beach ATV Tour & Desert Trails
ATV along Migriño beach sand dunes and Baja desert landscapes
You’ll ride an ATV across Migriño beach’s wide sands, wind through Baja’s desert trails past rare cactuses, and pause at a panoramic lookout over the Pacific. Expect small groups led by local guides who’ll share stories (and maybe spot whales if it’s the season). It’s sandy, loud, fun — and way more real than any postcard.

The Experience
I didn’t really know what to expect from an ATV tour in Cabo — I just wanted to feel the wind and see something besides the usual resort scene. We met up at Migriño, helmets clattering in our hands, and right away our guide (Carlos, with this dry sense of humor) showed us how to handle the ATVs. I was honestly nervous at first — those things look heavier than they are — but after a few minutes on the sand, it felt more like play than anything else. The air smelled salty and sharp, with this weird hint of sage or maybe it was just dust kicking up behind us.
We followed Carlos down toward the mangroves. He pointed out these squat cactuses — apparently some only grow here in Baja California. I tried to pronounce one of their names (no idea if I got close), and Carlos just grinned. There were pelicans flapping overhead and sometimes you’d catch a glimpse of the ocean through the brush. When we stopped for water, someone asked about whales — it’s true, during November to April you can spot them from the beach if you’re lucky. Didn’t see any that day but honestly, I didn’t mind.
The best part? There’s this 360-degree lookout where you can see everything: mountains behind you, Pacific out front, sand everywhere else. The sun was already dropping low so everything looked kind of gold and washed out. My hands were gritty from the handlebars but I didn’t care — it felt like being a kid again. If you’re looking for a day trip from Cabo San Lucas that isn’t just lounging by a pool, this is it. Still think about that view sometimes when I’m stuck in traffic back home.
What’s included
Your day includes bottled water throughout the ride, complimentary lockers for your stuff so you don’t have to worry about losing anything on those bumpy stretches, plus all safety gear like helmets and goggles handed out before you start revving down Migriño’s sandy trails.
