The bus leaves Tokyo early and heads west toward Kawaguchiko, where Oishi Park sits on the north shore with a clear sightline to the mountain and the lake in the same frame. On a clear morning, photographers line up here before nine. The park changes with the season — cherry blossoms in spring, wildflowers through summer, and in winter the light hits differently, sharper.

After Oishi Park, the route climbs to Arakura Sengen Park, where 398 stairs lead to an observation deck overlooking Fujiyoshida City with Mount Fuji rising behind it. The hike is short but steady, and the view from the top is the kind that makes you understand why this mountain matters to people. Then comes Oshino Hakkai, a cluster of eight ponds fed by snowmelt that filters through Mount Fuji's lava rock for over 80 years. The water is so clear it's almost unreal, and you can taste it — locals revere it, and once you see how transparent it is, you understand why. The last stop is the 5th Station itself, where the air thins noticeably and the mountain looms close enough that you can see the rock and snow on the upper slopes. There are restaurants and gift shops here, so you can eat and buy souvenirs with that view just outside the window.

The whole day is structured around travel time — the bus is air-conditioned and has WiFi, which matters on a long drive. In winter, if conditions aren't right for the 5th Station, the tour pivots to the 4th Station or Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park instead, where you can catch the diamond Fuji sunset (that's when the sun sits directly above the peak at the right angle). The pace is manageable; you're not hiking to the summit, just moving between viewpoints and letting the mountain show itself.
