The experience

The day starts with a pickup from either Tokyo Station or Shinjuku at your chosen time, then a scenic drive toward Mount Fuji in an air-conditioned vehicle with a guide who speaks English, Korean, Chinese or Japanese. Between late April and November, you stop at the 5th Station halfway up the mountain to see the countryside spread below and feel the scale of Japan's highest peak. From December through April, winter conditions close that route, so the tour visits Arakurayama Sengen Park instead: a spot famous among photographers worldwide for its view of the five-story Chureito Pagoda framed against Mount Fuji.

After the mountain stop, you move on to Oshino Hakkai, a cluster of eight ponds filled with water from Mount Fuji's melting snow. The water is so pure it's used in Shinto rituals, and walking around the ponds you see the mountain reflected in each one. This is where the tour slows down: no rushing between stops, just the quiet of the water and the sight of the peak.

The final choice is yours: a traditional hot spring bath at Kinohana no Yu, a facility that opened in 2019 with an open-air bath facing Mount Fuji (entrance around 1,900 JPY), or retail therapy at Gotemba Premium Outlets. If the hot spring is closed, the tour substitutes another facility in the Gotemba area. The return to Tokyo or Shinjuku happens in the evening. Weekend and holiday traffic may push the arrival past 8 p.m., and the operator covers any guide or driver overtime so you don't pay extra.
