The icehouse where Amarone ages was built centuries ago; now it holds the estate's finest vintages.

A guided wine tasting and winery tour in Valpolicella Classica near Verona, where you walk the vineyards, see the barrique cellar, and taste either 3 or 6 wines selected to show the region's character. The winery sits 20 minutes from Verona by car or taxi; the tour runs 90 minutes and includes water and breadsticks. Children under 18 and non-drinkers pay only for food they order.

The Experience

The winery sits in Valpolicella Classica, the heart of the region 20 minutes outside Verona by car or taxi. You'll need to arrange your own transport—a taxi from the city takes about 20 minutes, or you can ask the winery to arrange a transfer when you arrive. The vineyards here are tended by hand, from pruning to fertilization, using methods that have held for generations: the traditional Pergola Veronese and Guyot systems keep the vines trained and the soil alive without shortcuts.

The tour begins in the vineyards, where the guide walks you through how the grapes grow and why the soil and slope matter to what ends up in your glass. Then you move into the cellar—a barrique room where wines spend years developing their depth. Before that, you'll see the icehouse, a centuries-old structure the estate converted into an aging room for its Amarone reserves. The whole sequence takes about 90 minutes and shows you the path from vine to bottle without rushing it.

At the end, you choose between tasting 3 wines or 6. The 3-wine option covers Valpolicella Classico DOC, Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC, and Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Classico DOCG. The 6-wine tasting adds Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC, Rosso Verona IGT, and Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOCG. Water and breadsticks come with both. If you want cured meats and cheese to go with the wines, you can order a cutting board on the spot for 5 euros per person.

What’s included

  • Guided tour of the vineyards and barrique cellar.
  • tasting of either 3 or 6 Valpolicella wines.

Is this one for you?Book the 6-wine tasting if you want to understand the full range of what Valpolicella produces—from the everyday Classico to the complex Amarone and Recioto. The 3-wine option works better if you're short on time or prefer to focus on the flagship styles without the longer tasting.
