You ride for roughly three hours, choosing which of Verona's landmarks—Piazza Brà, Castelvecchio Bridge, the historic center—to pass on the way, then stop at Tenuta Santa Maria Valverde in Marano di Valpolicella for a guided wine tasting of Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone paired with local cheeses, salami and a light lunch. The tour runs only with this winemaker and his family winery, not through an intermediary. Minimum age is 14; you need to be comfortable riding a bike and stand at least 150cm tall.

The Experience

The e-bike does the climbing for you, which matters in Valpolicella's rolling terrain. Nicola takes shortcuts through the vineyards instead of the main roads—he knows the land well enough to avoid traffic and show you the landscape the way locals see it. You'll pass through the region's working hillsides, and along the way you can ask him which Verona attractions you'd like to include: Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza Brà, Castel San Pietro, Castelvecchio Bridge, Lake Garda views, or the historic center itself. The route adapts to what interests you.

After the ride, you arrive at the family winery in Marano di Valpolicella. Nicola walks you through a tasting of three wines—Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone—teaching you how to evaluate them by sight, smell and taste. The wines come with local cheeses, salami and a light lunch built from traditional Veronese food. This isn't a commercial tasting room; it's the winery's own table, and Nicola's the one pouring.

You'll need moderate fitness and comfort on a bike; the e-assist handles the steep sections. Wear sport clothes, sun protection and shoes that grip the pedals. The tour takes about three hours total. If you can't find a time that works online, you can request a custom departure directly.
