Three hours: dough from scratch, garden vegetables, wood-fired oven, tiramisu and digestif in the garden

An authentic pizza-making class at a private home overlooking Lake Como where you learn to shape traditional dough, pick fresh tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant and basil from the garden, bake your pizzas in a wood-fired oven, and eat them outdoors with homemade tiramisu and a mountain-herb digestif. The class runs three hours and is taught in English or Italian. You choose a morning or afternoon departure.

The experience

You'll work in a real Italian home with a garden that supplies the ingredients. The class starts with dough: you learn how to mix and knead traditional pizza dough from scratch using local flour and water, then move into the garden to harvest what goes on top. Cherry tomatoes, zucchini, eggplants and basil picked that morning. This is not a demonstration. You handle the ingredients and shape the dough yourself, guided by someone who knows the technique.

Once your pizzas are ready to bake, they go into the wood-fired oven. You sit in the garden while they cook, looking out at Lake Como. When they come out, you eat them there, at a table surrounded by the view. The meal doesn't stop at pizza: homemade tiramisu and a mountain-herb digestif round out the afternoon or morning, depending on which time slot you book. Public transportation runs nearby if you need it to get there.

The guide speaks English or Italian, so language is your choice at checkout. Whether you've made pizza before or never have, the class is built around learning by doing. You leave with the actual skill to recreate this at home, not just a memory of watching someone else do it.
