The experience
You'll work in a real Bergamo home, not a cooking school. Your host is a trained home cook from Le Cesarine, Italy's network of local cooks across more than 120 cities who invite travelers into their kitchens for hands-on lessons. She'll teach you how to make pizza dough and shape it the way Italian families do at home, then move on to tiramisu: the layered dessert that requires technique but no oven. You get an official Le Cesarine apron and learn the family secrets that make the difference between a good version and the one people ask for again.
The class takes three hours. You're making real food, not a demonstration: your hands do the work, and the instructor guides you through each step. Once everything is ready, you sit down together to eat the pizza and tiramisu you've just made, with local wine, water and coffee included. This is a private class, so it's just you and your group with the host: no strangers at the next table, no rotating stations.
The home is in Bergamo proper and reachable by public transportation. Families with children of all ages are welcome. Kids often find the hands-on work more engaging than watching someone else cook. Bring an appetite and comfortable clothes you don't mind getting flour on.
