The experience
How much of your day do you want to spend on wine, and how much on the rest of Verona? This one takes three hours total, which leaves you the morning or the afternoon free. Your certified local driver, Luca, picks you up and drives you into Valpolicella: a twenty-minute ride from the city center. The region produces Amarone, Ripasso and Recioto, and this visit focuses on one working winery where you'll see the full process, from fermentation tanks to the bottling line.
The winemaker leads the tasting in person and walks you through each of the five wines, Amarone always included. Between the vineyard and the cellar, a traditional lunch arrives at a table in the winery: local cheeses, cured meats, bread and regional dishes, finished with sweets chosen to pair with Amarone. The group stays small: semi-private means you're not on a bus with thirty people, but you may share the day with one or two other bookings. English and Italian are both spoken.
Luca handles the driving so you can taste without worrying about the road back. The winemaker's stories about each wine and the land itself are the real substance here. This is not a rushed tasting-room pour but a sit-down conversation with someone who made what you're drinking.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 17 years); Child (6 to 12 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.
What does Amarone wine taste like, and why is it different from other Valpolicella wines?
Amarone is made from dried grapes, which concentrates the sugars and flavors into a full-bodied, rich wine with higher alcohol, usually 15 to 16 percent. Ripasso, another Valpolicella style, is lighter and more approachable. Recioto is sweet. The winemaker will explain how the drying process changes the wine and why Recioto is called the father of Valpolicella.
Will I have time to see the vineyard itself, or is it mostly the cellar?
You visit both the vineyard and the winery building. The day includes an inside look at the fermentation and bottling steps, so you'll see where the wine is actually made, not just taste it finished.
Is the lunch a full meal, or just snacks to go with the wine?
Lunch is a traditional spread of local products (cheeses, cured meats, bread and regional dishes) with sweets at the end that are paired to Amarone. It's substantial enough to be a real meal, not a tasting-room plate.
Do I need to know anything about wine to enjoy this?
No. The winemaker is there to explain everything: the process, the flavors, the stories behind each wine. You don't need experience to taste and learn.
