The experience

The morning starts at Piazza Brà with an authentic Italian espresso and Risino, a traditional pastry locals have eaten for generations. Your guide then leads you into the streets around the Arena, moving toward Piazza delle Erbe where a historic Osteria serves the aperitif: Soppressa salami, Monte Veronese cheese and cicchetti. Small bites that are distinctly Veronese. This is not a museum tour dressed up as food. You are eating what the city eats, in the places where it eats them.

The centerpiece comes next: a trattoria where you sit down for risotto all'Amarone, the signature dish of the region, made with Valpolicella wine that grows in the hills outside the city. Before that, at an elegant wine bar in the historic center, a sommelier guides you through three local wines (reds from Valpolicella, whites from the east toward Lake Garda), explaining why this region's winemaking matters. The guide walks you through the food district near Porta Borsari, where the Osterie and botteghe cluster, so you understand the geography of where Verona's food actually lives.

The tour ends at an artisanal gelateria with gelato to close the morning. Three hours total, all on foot through the center, with a licensed guide who speaks English and knows the recipes and the stories. You do not arrange transport to each stop or wonder where to sit. The guide handles the route and the timing, so the day holds together without you building it.
