The experience
Your driver-guide collects you from wherever you're staying (hotel, villa, apartment, airport or port) at the time you choose. They act as your personal photographer throughout the day on request. The route moves through Ubud's most visited sites, starting with the Ubud Monkey Forest, a 14th-century habitat set in the heart of the town where bands of macaques roam freely. Your guide shows you how to interact with them safely before you move north to the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shaped by the Balinese Subak irrigation system. You walk the slope across the valley and watch local farmers at work depending on the season.
After the rice fields comes the jungle swing, where you sit above the forest canopy with lunch overlooking the same landscape. The meal gives you time to reconnect with where your food comes from. From there, the day deepens into Balinese spiritual culture at Tirta Empul Temple, located 700 meters above sea level. The holy spring complex lets you purify your body and soul by taking a dip in the pool. The operator recommends spending time walking the outside sections before or after. Your final stop is Tegenungan Waterfall, a 50-foot cascade set in a lush valley. A five-minute walk down a well-maintained trail of about 100 steps brings you to the base, where you can swim, photograph and explore at your own pace before your driver takes you back.
