The Experience

Your driver picks you up at your hotel and takes you first to Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a lush temple complex in the heart of Ubud where hundreds of long-tailed macaques roam among ancient stone structures. The forest combines wildlife, nature and Balinese spirituality in one setting. From there you head to Tegalalang Rice Terrace, where the subak irrigation system — a UNESCO-recognized method passed down since the 8th century — creates the terraced landscape that makes this one of Ubud's three most beautiful rice-growing areas.

At Tegalalang you can add the Happy Swing experience if you want it (paid separately on site for 300,000 IDR), which lets you swing high above the rice valleys with panoramic views and photo platforms. Next is Tirta Empul Temple, a sacred spring temple with purification pools fed by holy water, where you'll wear the traditional sarong provided. The complex opens into three courtyards lined with stone pathways and tropical plants before reaching the inner sanctum. You then visit Elephant Cave (Goa Gajah), a 9th-century sanctuary just outside Ubud with a dramatic entrance carved with protective stone faces, followed by Tegenungan Waterfall — a 15-meter cascade where you can swim in the pool below and feel the spray from the lush surroundings.

The route also includes stops at Ubud Sari Luwak Coffee, where you can see how traditional Balinese coffee is made from bean to cup, and Gunung Kawi Temple, one of Bali's oldest temples, set in a scenic valley with stone carvings and rice terraces alongside a river. Your air-conditioned vehicle and English-speaking driver handle all the logistics and timing, so the six stops fit into a single coherent day.
