The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel in Seminyak between 8 and 9 in the morning, then a drive north to the Ayung River. The rafting itself lasts two hours on a stretch suitable for beginners and families. You'll paddle through jungle scenery, past rice fields and kingfisher sightings, and spot a hidden waterfall along the way. The operator provides all safety equipment, a professional river guide, insurance, and access to lockers, towels and a shower after you finish.

Lunch is a buffet served at the rafting restaurant, with vegetarian options available if you request them at booking. After eating, the tour moves to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a 27-acre protected site in the village of Padangtegal where over 400 long-tailed macaques roam among Hindu temples, jungle and gorge. You'll then visit Ubud Palace, built in the early 1800s and still the focal landmark of central Ubud, followed by Tegalalang Rice Terrace with its dramatic stepped views across the valley. The final stop is Tegenungan Waterfall, a 20-meter drop on the Petanu River where you can photograph the landscape and feel the spray.

On the drive between stops you'll pass Elephant Cave, Mas Village (known for wood carving), Batuan Temple and Celuk Village (a gold and silver crafting center), though these are brief sightseeing moments rather than structured visits. The tour is private, meaning only your party travels in the air-conditioned vehicle with your driver-guide. No other tourists are added to the booking. The entire day ends with drop-off back at your hotel in Seminyak.
