The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup at 8:00 AM and heads straight to the Ayung River. You'll spend two hours navigating 10 kilometers of Class II–III rapids (the kind designed for first-timers and families) with a professional rafting guide in the boat giving instructions as you go. The river cuts through dense jungle and rice fields where you can spot blue Javan kingfishers, and the itinerary includes a detour to a hidden waterfall. The water is clear and calm enough to swim in between sections. All safety gear, lockers, towels and a shower are provided at the riverside base.

After rafting, you'll eat a buffet lunch at a restaurant overlooking the river. The tour then moves to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, a lakeside complex in the cooler upland area of central Bali, before finishing at Tanah Lot Temple as the sun sets. Tanah Lot sits on a sea rock surrounded by crashing waves and is one of Bali's most photographed temples. The onshore grounds hold smaller shrines, shops and restaurants. An air-conditioned vehicle and English-speaking driver handle all transport between stops. The full day runs 9 to 10 hours from pickup to drop-off.
