You start before dawn with a 5am hotel pickup, spend the early morning on a dolphin-watching boat off Lovina's black sand beach, then drive inland to swim at Twin Banyumala waterfall in the jungle. The afternoon takes you to two crater lakes and the Twin Gate of Heaven viewpoint in Wanagiri village. Private transport, all tickets and a guide are included; you return to Ubud by evening.
The pickup comes at 5am — early enough that Ubud is still dark and the roads are quiet. You're heading north toward Lovina, where the boat waits at the black sand beach. The dolphin watching happens in those first hours after sunrise, when the water is calm and the light is still soft. Most mornings you'll see them, though the guide won't promise it — that's how you know it's real. The boat ride takes about an hour, and you're out on the water with maybe a handful of other people, watching the coast wake up behind you.
After Lovina, the route turns inland and climbs. You stop at the Twin Banyumala waterfall, which sits in jungle thick enough that the air changes when you walk in — cooler, louder with water and birds. The waterfall is two streams falling side by side, and there's a pool deep enough to swim in. Some people jump from the rocks; most just wade and take photos. The guide knows the safe spots. From there you drive to Wanagiri village, where two crater lakes — Buyan and Tamblingan — sit high enough that on clear days you can see across both at once. The Twin Gate of Heaven, a stone gateway carved as a symbol of Balinese Hinduism, stands nearby and frames the view. Rice terraces slope down from the road, and the air is noticeably cooler than it was at sea level an hour before.
The whole day runs long — you're back in Ubud by late afternoon, tired in the way that means you actually did something. Private transport means no waiting for other groups, no stops at souvenir shops, and the guide is with you the whole time, not rushing between multiple tours. All entry fees, the boat, and transport are already paid, so there's nothing to negotiate or figure out once you're there.
