The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a drive to Padangbai, where a professional local guide meets you at the beach. A boat takes you out to the first snorkeling spot, Blue Lagoon, where you have an hour in the water over sandy bottom dotted with coral reef and tropical fish. The second spot, Tanjung Jepun, gets another hour in the water with a different view of the same marine life. All snorkeling gear is provided, and you can rinse off and change at the restaurant before eating.

Lunch is Indonesian food at Topi Inn restaurant in Padangbai itself, with time to rest between the water and the next part of the day. After eating, the driver takes you inland to Kanto Lampo Waterfall, a less-visited spot tucked into jungle, then to Suwat Waterfall: a natural pool with a bamboo raft you can float on and a setting that still sees few tourists. Both are good for swimming and photos. The return to your hotel closes the 9-hour day.
