The experience
The day starts at your hotel and moves straight to Giza, where you'll stand in front of the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus, then the Great Sphinx at the Valley Temple complex. From there the route heads ten miles south to the Egyptian Museum, home to over 250,000 genuine pieces spanning 5,000 years of Egyptian art and royal treasures: the world's largest collection of its kind. After the museum, you cross into Old Cairo to walk Khan El Khalili, the centuries-old bazaar where vendors sell brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver and gold.
The tour ends on the Nile itself. You board a boat for a two-hour evening cruise with dinner, a belly dancer, a folklore show and live Oriental music. A guide who speaks your language stays with you the entire day, and the itinerary includes all entrance fees, lunch at a local restaurant, dinner on the boat, bottled water and all transfers in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The whole experience runs about eight hours from pickup to return.
