The experience
The activity starts at an impressive natural basalt rock wall outside Baños, where you'll warm up on routes graded 5.a to 6.c+. A guide leads the session, adjusting the difficulty as you go: beginning with short climbs and good breaks for conversation and snacks, then moving into more challenging attempts once you've found your rhythm. The whole thing runs four hours from start to finish.
All the equipment you need comes with the booking: harness, climbing shoes, helmet and chalk. Water and fruit snacks are provided during the breaks. The guide speaks English or Spanish and stays with the group throughout, keeping safety standards high while you work through the routes at a pace that suits your ability.
The activity includes free entry to Boulder Bunker, a bouldering gym in town, so you can climb again on another day if you want. Pickup is arranged as part of the booking. Children from age 8 can join. Public transportation options are also nearby if you prefer to make your own way to the rock.
