Baños Leaning Ladder Circuit: Rappel, Bridge & Zipline Thrills

If you’re after something different in Baños, this circuit mixes adventure with wild views—rappel down beside a cascade, cross wire bridges, climb an inclined ladder over roaring water, then zipline back to base. It’s safe, fun, and run by folks who really know their stuff.

experience

What’s the experience like?

The first thing that hit me was the rush of cool mist from the cascade—right before we clipped into our harnesses for the 120-meter rappel. Two guides were there, one cracking a joke to ease my nerves, the other waiting below with a thumbs-up. The rope felt solid in my hands, and you could hear the river churning somewhere beneath all that spray. My shoes got a little muddy on the way down, but honestly, I barely noticed with all that adrenaline.

Next up: a 50-meter Tibetan bridge. It’s basically three wires strung across open air—one for your feet, two for your hands. Crossing it felt like walking a tightrope above the Pastaza River. The wind picked up halfway through and made the wires hum. I remember glancing down and seeing a blue plastic sandal someone must’ve dropped ages ago stuck on a rock below.

The real highlight? That slanted ladder—70 meters long and it stretches right over the river’s edge. Climbing it is weirdly satisfying; you feel every rung under your boots and get this wild view of water crashing below. We finished with a 350-meter canopy line. You can go seated or Superman style—I tried both because why not? The ride is quick but you catch glimpses of green hills and hear people cheering at the end platform.
