A 2-day PADI Open Water Diver course at Blue Bay Dive in Curacao teaches you to dive safely through theory, confined water skills practice in the bay, and four open water dives on the house reefs. The theoretical component can be completed online before you arrive. Instructors teach in English, Spanish, Italian, French and other languages. All scuba equipment is included, and children from age 10 are welcome.

The experience

The course runs over 2 days and combines online learning with hands-on instruction at the dive shop on the beach. You can complete the theory section through E-Learning before your holiday starts, which means the classroom time focuses on the skills and knowledge you'll need in the water. The remaining theory gets taught in the classroom right on the beach, so you're never far from the water.

Training happens in stages. First, you'll practice confined water skills in the bay directly in front of the dive shop. This is where you learn the fundamentals in a controlled setting before moving to the open reef. Then you'll complete four open water dives on the house reefs at Blue Bay, diving sites called The Garden and The Wall. A PADI instructor guides you through each dive, teaching you step by step to become a certified diver. All scuba equipment is provided, so you only need to bring yourself and your willingness to learn.

The course accepts divers from age 10 onward and suits all fitness levels. Instructors are available in multiple languages, so language is not a barrier to certification. By the end of day two, you'll hold your PADI Open Water Diver card and be ready to dive independently at destinations around the world.
