The Experience

The dive shop briefing gets you ready before you enter the water. You'll go over the basics of the equipment and how to move underwater, then head to the shore dive site—described as an amazing place on the island where the reef is accessible without a boat. A live guide leads the group, keeping it small so everyone gets attention and can move at their own pace.

Once underwater, you'll see the coral nursery the operator maintains around Curaçao. This is not a generic reef tour; you're looking at active restoration work, corals being grown and tended to rebuild the reef. The dive lasts as part of the 3.5-hour outing, which includes the shop time, the briefing, the water time and the return. Cookies and water are provided after you surface.

No diving experience is required—the guide handles instruction and safety. You do need to fill out a medical questionnaire before the day (the operator provides the form), and you'll need to plan 12 hours between your dive and any flight, so book with that window in mind. Pickup is included, and the guide speaks your language from a choice of four.
