Yes, the crew gives you a 15-minute instruction on how to operate the buggy, and they won't let you head out until you're comfortable with it. You choose between a 2-seater or 4-seater buggy at checkout. After you pick up from your hotel, you get your helmet and goggles, then you're behind the wheel on back roads through Guanacaste's dry tropical forest. This is not a paved-road tour: you're navigating trails where the landscape actually changes as you drive, and the route is designed to give you the best chance of spotting monkeys, iguanas and birds along the way.

The three beaches are the payoff. Playa Minas, Puerto Viejo and Pirate's Bay are not the crowded strips near town. They're the hidden spots with white sand and clear water where you can actually breathe. You stop at each one long enough to soak in the view, wade in if you want, maybe snorkel. The crew brings cold water and fresh fruit so you're not parched by the time you've been driving and walking.
