The experience

The ride starts with off-the-beaten-path routes that climb into the mountains surrounding Tamarindo. You cross rivers and navigate terrain that opens onto hidden trails most visitors never find, each one leading deeper into the region's wildest corners. The Suzuki automatic quadracycles handle the uneven ground, and the pace lets you take in the landscape rather than rush through it.

Halfway through, the trails drop down to white sand beaches with clear water where you can stop, swim or just stand and look. From the higher viewpoints along the route, you see the ocean and jungle spread out together: the kind of view that photographs don't quite capture. The wildlife appears naturally as you ride: howler monkeys calling from the canopy, iguanas sunning on rocks, birds you won't see anywhere else. A guide rides with you and points out what's worth noticing, speaking English or Spanish depending on your group.

Roundtrip transportation from your hotel is included if you book it, so there's no separate arrangement for getting to the trailhead. You'll get fresh tropical fruit and bottled water during the ride to keep your energy up. All safety equipment (helmet, protective gear) comes with the quad bike, and children from age three can ride along.

What’s included

Do I need ATV experience to book this ride?

The Suzuki quadracycles are automatic, so you don't need prior riding experience. The guide leads the group and sets a pace that works for riders of varying skill levels, though you should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness for the two-hour duration and terrain.

What happens if I want to swim at the beach we reach?

The ride stops at white sand beaches with clear water, and you have time to swim, wade or take photos. Bring a change of clothes or a quick-dry shirt if you plan to get in the water, since you'll ride back afterward.
