The experience

You drive the UTV yourself, not as a passenger. After hotel pickup, you'll head to the departure point where your bilingual guide walks you through safety and fits your helmet. A practice run on your fully equipped Honda lets you get comfortable with the machine before you head into the terrain. From there, the 2-hour ride takes you through a series of trails that climb into mountains, dip into jungle, cross rivers and open onto beaches with views across the North Pacific toward Flamingo. The route is not fixed. Small group sizes mean your guide can adjust the path based on conditions and what you want to see.

Wildlife appears throughout the ride: monkeys, white-nosed coatis, armadillos, iguanas and birds are common in this part of Guanacaste. The natural landscape shifts as you move: dense vegetation gives way to open ridges, then to sand and ocean. Bring a change of clothes for after the ride, since water crossings and trail dust are part of the experience. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Comfortable, light clothing you don't mind getting dirty works best.

Children 16 and older can drive their own UTV. Younger riders travel as passengers (ages 6 and up are welcome). A valid driver's license is required on the day of travel, and the minimum driver age is 17. Each UTV seats up to four people, so depending on the option you choose, you may ride solo, with one other person, or with two passengers in the same machine.

No. Your helmet is provided and fitted by the guide. You'll also receive a safety briefing and a practice run before the ride begins.

How does hotel pickup work?

Complimentary pickup is available from Tamarindo Beach, Flamingo Beach or the JW Marriott Guanacaste, depending on the option you select. The driver will take you to the departure point and return you after the ride.

What's the difference between the 2-person, 3-person and 4-person UTV options?

Each UTV seats up to four passengers total. The 2-person option means you and one other rider share one machine; the 3-person option adds a second passenger; the 4-person option fills the UTV to capacity. You always drive your own vehicle.
