Tamarindo Ziplining Tour: ATV Rainforest & Canopy Cables
Ride the mountains, then fly through the treetops
An ATV and canopy zipline activity in Tamarindo combines a guided ride through rainforest and rivers on four-wheeler with zip-line cables up to 500 meters long strung between the trees. Hotel pickup from the Tamarindo area is included, along with a professional guide, helmet and bottled water; children from age 6 can participate, though only riders 16 and older can operate the ATV. The maximum weight limit is 260 pounds.
Step-by-step itinerary
ATV and canopy zipline adventure

- Pick up from W Reserva Conchal or Westin Conchal
- Drive to Huacas departure point
- ATV tour through mountains and rainforest
- Cross small rivers by ATV
- Arrive at canopy zipline site
- Zipline on cables up to 500 meters
- Return by ATV or transportation
The Experience
The day starts with pickup from your hotel in the Tamarindo area and a drive to Huacas, the main departure point. From there, you ride an ATV through the mountains, rain forest and across small rivers to reach the canopy site. The terrain and the river crossings are what get you to the ziplines — they're not a separate stop but the route itself.
Once at the canopy, you find zip-line cables stretching up to 500 meters, which means you're suspended high enough to see the forest from above the treetops instead of beneath them. A professional guide leads the activity and speaks English or Spanish. You wear a helmet throughout, and the operator provides bottled water. The return to the starting point can be by ATV or by transportation, depending on guide availability.
Wear sneakers and comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dirty — the ATV ride and river crossings mean you'll likely need a change of clothes. Bring an extra set if you want to change before heading back. A minimum of two ATV drivers per booking is required, and the activity is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with poor cardiovascular health; moderate physical fitness is expected.
