The experience
The day starts with pickup from Tamarindo, Flamingo or Westin Conchal at 6:20 or 6:35 am, then a drive to the park near Liberia at the base of Rincon de la Vieja. Once there, you move through four different activities the operator says other tours don't combine: tubing down Rio Colorado comes first, where you float the river in a tube; then you clip into the canopy lines strung through the forest; after that you walk into the natural hot springs fed by the volcano; and the day wraps with a buffet lunch before the drive back to your hotel.
A live guide in English or Spanish leads the group through each activity and stays with you the whole time. The setup means you're doing the work (operating the tube, clipping your own harness, walking into the springs) rather than watching from a vehicle. Kids from age 5 can join if an adult stays with them, and the operator notes you'll need at least a moderate fitness level for the climbing and water work involved.
Lunch and all four activities are included in the price. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included from selected hotels. The 7-hour window is tight, so the schedule moves through each stop without lingering. Bring a change of clothes and a towel. You'll be wet for parts of the day.
What’s included
- Buffet lunch.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (7 to 10 years); Infant (5 to 6 years). Children under 5 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is tubing on Rio Colorado like?
Rio Colorado tubing is a float down the river in an inner tube. You're in the water the whole time, moving with the current through the foothills. It's the first activity of the day, so you start wet and stay that way through the canopy lines afterward.
Do I need experience with zip lines to do the canopy part?
The canopy activity uses zip lines strung through the forest, and the guide will set you up and show you how to clip in. No prior experience is required, though you do need to be comfortable with heights and able to grip and move along the lines yourself.
Are the hot springs natural or heated pools?
The hot springs are natural pools fed by geothermal activity from Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. The water is warm from the volcano, not artificially heated, and you walk into them as part of the day's activities.
What's the drive time from Tamarindo or Flamingo to the park?
The drive from Tamarindo or Flamingo to the park near Liberia takes roughly an hour, depending on traffic. Pickup is at 6:20 or 6:35 am so you arrive at the park with time to start the activities in the morning.
Is the buffet lunch included, or do I need to bring food?
Buffet lunch is included in the price and served during the day. You don't need to bring your own food, though you may want to bring water and snacks if you prefer them.
