The experience
The zip lines themselves are the centerpiece: eight of them string across the rain forest canopy with views of the smoking Rincon de la Vieja volcano, each one carrying you from one treetop platform to the next and over grand waterfalls. After the lines, you swing on the Tarzan rope to cross the river: the moment most people come for. The adrenaline part of the day is compact and front-loaded, which leaves the afternoon for the reason many come back: the natural hot springs.
After lunch, you choose how to spend the remaining hours. Three natural mineral hot spring pools and two fresh water pools (one with a slide) sit ready for soaking. A volcanic mud bath and natural sauna are available if you want them. The botanical gardens sprawl across the property (butterfly gardens, orchid garden, hummingbird sanctuary, koi ponds, bird and caiman lagoons, turtle ponds), and you can walk them at your own pace between dips. Some people spend the whole afternoon in the water. Others split time between the gardens and the pools.
A bilingual guide (English and Spanish) leads the ziplining portion and stays with the group through lunch. An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your Tamarindo hotel and brings you back at the end of the 9-hour day. Lockers and change rooms are on-site. Vegetarian lunch options are available if you request them when you book.

Is this one for you?At 9 hours, this day fills most of your schedule, so plan it for a day when you have nothing else booked. The ziplining happens in the morning and is the most physically demanding part. The afternoon in the hot springs and gardens is as relaxed as you want it to be, which works well if you're recovering from the adrenaline or if you're traveling with people of different fitness levels.
