The Experience

You start at the office or your hotel depending on which option you book, then head out on backroads that don't connect to the main highway—the kind of terrain only an ATV can reach. If you're driving, you handle the semi-automatic Honda yourself; families with kids pair up on a double ATV or two-seater buggy with one adult controlling the throttle. The route takes you through forests and across rivers, passing through local villages on the way to the Adventure Park.

Once you arrive at the park, you trade the ATV for a harness and step into the canopy. The zipline course runs 10 cables through the treetops, each one dropping you deeper into the dry tropical forest with views across Guanacaste spreading out below. A trained guide manages the setup and timing, and you move through the course at your own pace between cables.

After the last zipline, you ride back to the office on the same backroads you came in on, passing through villages and forest again. The whole outing—ATV riding, zipline course, guide, helmet, goggles and water—takes 2.5 hours. The guide speaks English and Spanish, and if you want a bandana for dust on the ride, they're available at the office for $5 each. Pickup from JW Marriott, Las Catalinas or Palm Beach hotels adds $15 per person to your total.
