Rincon de la Vieja Volcano Adventure: Horseback & Zipline
Ride, fly through the canopy, and soak in volcanic heat
A private adventure combo at Rincon de la Vieja Volcano pairs a 30-minute horseback ride to the Colorado River with a zipline run through tropical dry forest, a choice of white water rafting or tubing, and time in volcanic mud paint and natural hot springs. Lunch, bottled water, snacks and beers during transport are included; a guide in English or Spanish meets you at pickup and stays with you through all seven hours.
The Experience
The day starts with a 30-minute horseback ride down to the Colorado River at the base of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, moving through terrain that opens up the scale of the place. From there you trade the horse for a harness and move into the zipline section—a heart-pounding run through the tropical dry forest canopy that covers the distance you just rode on foot. The combination means you see the landscape twice, from two different angles and speeds.
After the zipline you come back to solid ground for lunch at the on-site restaurant, where a casado—rice, beans, salad and your choice of protein—sits alongside fresh juice. Then you pick your water: white water rafting or tubing on the Colorado River, depending on what appeals to you that day. Both are included; the choice is yours at the start.
The final stretch moves into the volcanic side of the volcano. Volcanic mud paint and natural hot springs are waiting—the mud goes on skin, the springs are for soaking, and both are part of the package. Shower facilities and towels are there when you're ready to rinse off. The wet bar stocks beers and cocktails if you want something cold after the heat, though those cost extra. Bottled water and snacks are included throughout, and the beers that come during the drive to and from the site are on the house.

Is this one for you?Pick the rafting option if you want the rush of moving water and current; pick tubing if you prefer to float and steer at your own pace. Either way, the combo stacks enough variety—horseback, zipline, river, mud and heat—that the day never settles into one rhythm, and the seven hours hold together as a single arc instead of separate stops.
