The Experience

After pickup from your hotel in Tamarindo or Flamingo Beach, you're driven to Selvatura Park in Monteverde Cloud Forest. The day splits into two parts: first, a guided walk across eight hanging bridges that range from 150 to 510 feet in length, suspended between 12 and 180 feet above the forest floor. A guide walks with you through the cloud forest's ecosystem, pointing out the hundreds of bird species, mammals, and more than 2,500 plant species that thrive in the constant mist and moisture here. This section usually takes about 1.5 hours and is suitable for all ages.

Then you move to the zipline course. After being harnessed with full safety equipment and briefed on procedures, you fly through 15 cables across 18 platforms, covering roughly 2 miles through the canopy. An optional Tarzan Swing lets you drop and swing out over the valleys below. The zipline portion takes about 2.5 hours. Children must be at least 4 years old for this part, and you need moderate physical fitness; the tour operates regardless of weather, so bring layers for the cloud forest's chilly, misty conditions.
