The experience
You're driven out to San Félix in an air-conditioned vehicle, about 30 minutes from the city center, and the moment you step out, you see why this spot exists. The launch point sits high enough that Medellín spreads out below in a way that doesn't feel real until you're actually up there. Your pilot goes through the gear (harness, helmet, the whole setup), and it takes maybe ten minutes. Then you're running off the edge of a hillside and the ground just stops mattering.
The paragliding itself is smooth at first, almost meditative, and then your pilot asks if you want tricks. If you say yes, you get spirals, dives, the kind of moves that flip your stomach and make you laugh without meaning to. The city rotates beneath you: neighborhoods, the river, the mountains on all sides. It's not like looking at a postcard of Medellín. It's the whole geography at once, and you're floating through the middle of it. The flight lasts somewhere between one and two hours depending on the thermals and what you ask for.
A GoPro is mounted the whole time, and you get the full HD video afterward, not a highlight reel, the actual footage. That matters because the view from up there doesn't translate to memory the way it translates to video. You'll want to watch it again. On the way back down, the driver takes you back into the city, and you're still buzzing, still processing the fact that you just did that.
