The experience
The tour starts at your hotel or cruise terminal and moves through the city by car or van depending on group size. Your guide leads you on foot through Plaza de Mayo, the political heart of Argentina, explaining the country's history and culture as you stand in the square itself. You'll see Casa Rosada, the government house with the balcony where Evita Perón addressed crowds, and learn about the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, who have gathered here weekly since the 1970s to remember those lost during the dictatorship.
La Boca, the old port where tango music began 150 years ago, comes next: a neighborhood famous for its colorful houses and immigrant stories. The route also passes the Avenida 9 de Julio, which the guide will point out as one of the world's widest avenues at 16 lanes, and takes you through Puerto Madero, the newer waterfront district built around the Puente de la Mujer bridge. You'll see the Colón Theatre, considered one of the world's finest opera houses. Recoleta Cemetery, an open-air art museum where Evita is buried, is on the itinerary. Entry costs USD 12 per person, paid at the gate by card.
Because this is a private tour, you can ask your guide to adjust the route on the day itself: spend more time at a neighborhood that interests you, skip one that doesn't, or ask questions about what you're seeing without keeping a group waiting. Hotel or cruise port pickup and drop-off are included. If you're flying out the same day, airport transfer is available for an extra charge at checkout.
