The experience

Caminito is the anchor of this tour: a curved pedestrian promenade 150 meters long in the La Boca neighborhood, where the Riachuelo River meets the city and colorful colonial houses line the street. The tour brings you here first, then moves to the nearby Boca Juniors stadium, declared a sports and cultural landmark of Buenos Aires. From there you travel through Avenida de Mayo, the broad avenue opened in 1894 that runs from Plaza de Mayo to the National Congress building, a route that reads like a walk through the entire history of the city.

At each major stop (Caminito, Floralis Generica, the Casa Rosada, Recoleta). You get 15 to 20 minutes to photograph and explore while the guide remains with you. The Casa Rosada, the imposing pink palace that sits at Plaza de Mayo and serves as the seat of the National Government, occupies the site where the Fort of Buenos Aires was built in 1580. Floralis Generica, a 20-meter stainless steel and aluminum sculpture that moves via hydraulic system, dominates the United Nations Square and was inaugurated in 2002. The tour ends in Puerto Madero, now one of Buenos Aires' most upscale neighborhoods, before returning you to your hotel.

The guide speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese throughout, and travels with you in an air-conditioned vehicle. Children from age one are welcome, and specialized infant seats are available. All areas are wheelchair accessible, and service animals are permitted.

  • Bilingual guide in English, Spanish or Portuguese throughout the tour.
