The experience
The tour leaves from the shop in Montserrat and moves through San Telmo first, where Parque Lezama marks the city's original birthplace. You stop at La Santísima Trinidad, a Russian Orthodox church with distinctive onion domes that stands as a quiet marker of the East European communities Buenos Aires has held for generations. Then the route heads into La Boca, the neighbourhood famous for tango and painted murals, where the Bombonera stadium, one of Argentina's most photographed landmarks, sits at the heart of the local passion for football and art.
Caminito is your longest stop, a colourful open-air museum along the river where the conventillos (old tenement buildings) line the street in bright yellows, pinks and blues. You have time to walk, photograph and browse for souvenirs before the guide moves the group toward the Reserva Ecologica, a protected natural area where you cycle under tree shade and watch for hundreds of species of birds and other wildlife. The reserve sits closed Mondays and after heavy rain, so check the weather before you book. After the reserve, you cross into Puerto Madero, the city's newest neighbourhood, where modern architecture and green space meet the water.
The final stop is Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada, the Pink House that serves as the seat of Argentina's executive government. The guide walks through the history of the square (hundreds of years compressed into the Cathedral, the Cabildo and the landmarks surrounding them), and explains the story behind the house's construction and colour. You return to the shop after four hours on the bike.

Live guide in English and Spanish.
What is the Bombonera stadium and why do people photograph it so much?
The Bombonera is the home stadium of Boca Juniors, one of Argentina's most storied football clubs, and it sits in La Boca, the neighbourhood where tango was born. The guide explains the passion behind it and the stories of the people who live around it.
Can I visit the ecological reserve if it rains?
The Reserva Ecologica closes on Mondays and after heavy rain or thunderstorms. Light rain does not stop the tour, but severe weather will cause it to be rescheduled with no refund.
How much time do I spend at Caminito?

What happens if I arrive late to the starting point?
Tours begin strictly on time from the shop at Chile 1145 in Montserrat. The operator asks you to arrive 15 minutes early. If you miss the departure, there is no reschedulling or refund. Traffic in Buenos Aires is heavy, so plan for delays.
Do I need to bring my own water?
Yes, bring your own bottle of water. The tour runs four hours on a bike, so staying hydrated matters, especially in warmer months.
