The walk starts in the city center and moves through gothic streets to the Et'hem Bey Mosque, built in the 18th century and recently reopened to visitors. From there you reach the Castle of Tirana, a fortress that blends historic and modern architecture, then pass the Tirana Clock Tower: climbing it is optional and costs 2 euros separately if you want the city views from the top. The route takes you through Blloku, once a restricted military zone guarded by 5,000 soldiers and now the city's center for nightlife and youth culture. You'll see the largest church in the Balkans, recently redecorated, and learn about the Sigurimi, Albania's secret police, through testimonies of surveillance and persecution during communist rule. The House of Leaves museum, which documents this history, sits on the route. Entry costs 700 Albanian Lek (about 7 euros) if you choose to go inside, but is not included in the tour price.
