The Experience
The tour starts at the Clock Tower on Skanderbeg Square, where the National Museum's massive mosaic tells the story of Albanian history across its pavilions. From there you walk to the Palace of Culture, the Ethem Bey Mosque and the Tirana Clock Tower, each viewed from outside. The route then moves through the Pyramid—a stark concrete structure from the 1980s—and continues past Bunkart 2, the National Art Gallery, Tirana Castle and Parliament. You'll see the main government buildings, the Catholic Cathedral, the Namazgjah Mosque, and cross Ura e Tabakeve bridge.
The second half takes you through the Cold War corner and Ex-Blloku, the protected neighbourhood where communist-era leaders' families lived. You pass the Youth Park, Taiwan, and the Orthodox Cathedral (with an optional stop at the Christian Heritage Souvenir shop), then visit the House of Leaves Surveillance Museum before the tour ends at the National Bank. The entire walk is wheelchair accessible and suited to all fitness levels, though you're moving on foot for the full two hours.
You pick between a private tour—just you and the guide—or a shared group. Both run in English or Spanish. Since entry fees and transport between stops aren't included, plan ahead for any museums you want to enter; public transport options are available nearby if you need them.
