A single day covers both ends of the island without backtracking.
A full-day private car tour of Phu Quoc takes you through the island's south and north in one loop, starting from Duong Dong with stops at pepper and pepper farms, a pearl farm, Sao Beach (where you swim and eat), the Coconut Prison, a fish sauce factory, and ending at Starfish Beach and the National Park forest edge near the Cambodia border. The route is fixed and the guide speaks English. Pickup is included from central Duong Dong or John's Tours office, and the car holds either four or twelve people depending on which option you choose.

The experience
The day splits into two halves. You start south from Duong Dong at 9am, moving through working farms: pepper plants, a wine factory, a bee farm (closed Wednesdays and certain dates in January and February), and a pagoda, before reaching Sao Beach around midday. You choose lunch here or at one of the northern beaches later. The afternoon is yours to swim and rest. The guide handles the route while you handle the pace on the sand.
The north half covers ground faster. Rach Vem Village brings you to Starfish Beach for a second swim and meal option, then a short forest walk inside the National Park, and finally Ganh Dau Beach, where you stand at a viewpoint looking across the water toward Cambodia. The Coconut Prison and fish sauce factory sit in the south loop. Both are stops, not destinations that eat the day. By 5pm you are back at your hotel.
What makes this work is the private car. Eight hours in a shared minibus with other groups means stops are rushed and the beach time is rationed. A private vehicle means you set the length of lunch, the time on the sand, and how long you linger at any farm or viewpoint. The guide is English-speaking, so questions about what you are seeing get answered on the spot rather than through a translation app. Water and air conditioning are included. Fuel and parking fees are covered in the price.
Is this one for you?Choose the four-person option if your group is small and you want the car to yourself. The twelve-person option works for larger groups or families traveling together, though it means sharing the vehicle and coordinating lunch timing with others in the car.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Coconut Prison and why is it on the tour?
The Coconut Prison is a Vietnam War–era detention facility on Phu Quoc. The tour includes a stop to learn about its history. Note that it is temporarily closed for maintenance until January 15, 2026, so confirm the current status before booking.
Can I choose which beaches to visit, or is the route fixed?
The route is fixed: Sao Beach in the south and Starfish Beach in the north are both on the itinerary. You do choose where to have lunch among three options: Sao Beach, Rach Vem, or Ganh Dau Beach, which gives you some say in pacing the day.
Is the National Park walk difficult, or can anyone do it?
The National Park stop involves a short forest walk, not a hike. The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels. The walk is a light trek and only happens during the rainy season (May–October), so in dry months you pass by the forest instead.
What happens if I'm staying outside Duong Dong? Do I still get picked up?
Pickup is included from Duong Dong ward or John's Tours office. If you stay outside that area, contact the operator to arrange pickup. Some outlying areas carry an additional fee (5–20 USD per person depending on location).
Are there any days when the tour doesn't run, or when certain stops are closed?
The bee farm is closed every Wednesday and on specific dates in January and February (1st, 16th–19th). The Coconut Prison is closed until January 15, 2026. Confirm these dates when booking if they fall near your travel dates.
