The experience

The day starts with pickup at your hotel in Duong Dong and a drive to the bee farm, where you'll see traditional beekeeping operations and learn how honey, pollen and royal jelly are produced. From there you head to Sông Cửa Cạn, the river that cuts through the island's quietest corner. This is where the kayak goes in. You paddle through mangrove channels and past tropical forest, watching for local wildlife along the banks and stopping at fishing villages to see how people live on the water.

After lunch, the tour moves inland to Phú Quốc National Forest, where trails wind through the island's protected wilderness and rare species live undisturbed. Then it's back to the coast at Rach Vem fishing village, where you walk wooden bridges over lagoons and can spot the colorful starfish the village is known for in the shallows. Ham Rong Cape, just next door, is the final beach stop: a place to sit and take in the coastal view before the drive back to town.

The return journey includes a stop at a local silk factory where you can watch traditional silk production and buy products if you want to. If you'd prefer to end at Grand World instead of your hotel, let the guide know in advance. Getting back from there is on your own. The whole day runs eight hours with an English-speaking guide, an air-conditioned vehicle for the driving sections, and all the kayaking gear you need.
