Sea kayaking Half-moon Bay Phu Quoc: sunset & seafood dinner
Kayak a remote coastline, rest on an unnamed beach, chase the sunset, eat dinner on the sand
Sea kayaking in Half-moon Bay, Phu Quoc is a 7-hour private activity where you paddle 4 km along the northwest coastline, pass Fingernail Island, land on a secluded beach surrounded by forest, drift at sunset, and eat a seafood dinner on the sand. The route is non-touristy and the beach completely natural; only your group participates. Hotel pickup and an English-speaking guide are included.
The Experience
You start from Half-moon Beach and paddle out toward Fingernail Island, passing the northern tip before turning toward Casuarina Beach—a stretch of about 4 km on open water. The guide leads from the kayak ahead. At Casuarina Beach you break to swim, soak in the water, drink coconut water and rest before paddling back. The route stays off the main tourist track and the beaches along this stretch of Phu Quoc's northwest coast are sparse and green-backed, so the sense of discovering something is real.
As the light changes you drift in the kayak through Half-moon Bay, watching the sunset from the water. This is the rhythm of the afternoon—no schedule to chase, just the moment itself. After the sun drops, the guide brings you back to Half-moon Beach, where a seafood dinner waits on the sand: grilled squid, shrimp, cobia and shellfish, set up with candles in a completely tranquil atmosphere. You eat where you paddled, with no crowds and no noise except the water.
What’s included
- Hotel pickup and drop-off by air-conditioned car.
- kayak and lifevest for each paddler.
- an English-speaking guide who leads the route.
- a seafood BBQ dinner on Half-moon Beach with grilled squid, shrimp, cobia and shellfish.

Is this one for you?The paddle crosses open sea and requires good kayaking skill, so this trip suits paddlers who are comfortable in a kayak on moving water and have moderate fitness. The 7-hour day is built around the sunset and the dinner that follows, not a packed itinerary, so it works best for travelers who want to slow down rather than cover ground.

How difficult is the kayaking on this trip?
Good kayaking skill is required. The 4 km paddle crosses open sea and includes a passage around Fingernail Island, so you need to be comfortable in a kayak on moving water. Moderate physical fitness is the baseline; the guide leads the route but does not paddle for you.
What's included in the price?
The sea kayaking trip includes hotel pickup and drop-off by air-conditioned car, kayak and lifevest, an English-speaking guide, and the seafood dinner on the beach. Bring your own towel and sun cream; a waterproof camera is useful but not provided.
Is this tour private, or will I paddle with other groups?
This is a private charter. Only your group participates, so the beach, the sunset and the dinner are yours alone.
What time does the activity start and how long does it take?
The trip runs 7 hours total. Hotel pickup happens in the afternoon, and you return after dinner on Half-moon Beach as the light fades.
Can children join this kayaking trip?
No children under 14 are permitted. The kayaking requires good skill and the open-water paddle is not suitable for younger paddlers.
What seafood will we eat at dinner?
Dinner is a seafood BBQ featuring grilled squid, shrimp, cobia and shellfish, cooked on the beach and served by candlelight.
