A private full-day guided tour of Phu Quoc Island with an English-speaking driver/guide, hotel pickup, and a flexible itinerary that lets you linger at the stops that interest you most. The tour covers a pepper farm where you learn to distinguish pepper varieties, a pearl farm where you see how pearls are extracted from scallops, Suoi Tranh Waterfall in a tropical forest, Ho Quoc Pagoda with sea views, Phu Quoc Prison and its wartime history, and Sao Beach for swimming. The cable car over the An Thoi Archipelago is available as an add-on; lunch and cable car tickets are separate.

The Experience

Phu Quoc Island's highlights fit into a single day when you have a private car and a guide who knows where to stop. Your driver picks you up from your hotel and takes you through the island at whatever pace suits you—spend an hour at the pepper farm learning to identify different varieties, or move on after twenty minutes. The same flexibility applies at the pearl farm, where you can watch how pearls are cut from scallops and learn the cultivation cycle, or skip it entirely if you'd rather use that time elsewhere.

The middle of the day carries the island's history and landscape. Suoi Tranh Waterfall sits deep in a tropical forest and is best visited during the rainy season from June to October, when water flows; from January to June the stream may be dry or nearly so. Ho Quoc Pagoda stands on a hillside with the sea in front and mountains behind, and your guide explains Vietnamese religious practice as you walk the grounds. Phu Quoc Prison documents the war years—the conditions were brutal and many soldiers died there, and the stories of escapes are part of what the guide shares.

The afternoon ends at Sao Beach, one of the island's longest stretches of white sand and clear water. You swim here, or wade, or sit and watch the horizon. If you want to add the Hon Thom cable car—one of the world's longest over-sea rides, passing three islands and offering views of the archipelago from above—that ticket is separate and costs extra. Your driver brings you back to your hotel as the day closes.

Top questions

What's the pepper farm stop actually like on this tour?

At the pepper farm you learn to grow pepper and distinguish the different types the island produces. The guide explains the cultivation and harvesting, and you walk through the plants themselves.

Can I swim at Sao Beach during this tour, or is it just a photo stop?

Sao Beach is a swimming stop. You have time to get in the water and enjoy the white sand and clear blue water; it's not a quick drive-by.

Is the waterfall guaranteed to have water when I visit?

Suoi Tranh Waterfall has little to no water from January to June. If you're traveling during those months, the stream may be dry or nearly dry. The waterfall is at its best from June to October during the rainy season.

Does the tour include lunch?

Lunch is not included in the tour price. You can eat at a restaurant during the day, and your guide can recommend places, but the meal is your own cost.

How does the cable car work if I want to add it?

The Hon Thom cable car is optional and not included in the tour price. If you choose to ride it, you buy the ticket separately. The cable car passes over three islands in the An Thoi Archipelago and lets you visit Pineapple Island and a water park; the cost is 850,000 VND for adults and 700,000 VND for children, both ways.

What time does the tour start and end?

The tour runs for eight hours total. Your driver picks you up from your hotel at a time you arrange, and returns you at the end of the day.
