The experience

The cruise departs from Tuan Chau Marina at midday. After check-in and a welcome drink on board, you'll have lunch and time to settle into your suite before the afternoon opens up: swim in the open sea with life vests provided, or paddle a kayak into Ao Ech Lagoon at your own pace. The water here is calm enough that even first-time paddlers move easily between the limestone walls. By late afternoon, the boat anchors for the sunset party and happy hour on the outdoor deck, then you can join a Vietnamese cooking class before dinner, or skip it for the spa and sauna. After dark, night squid fishing happens from the deck if you want to try it, and karaoke runs in the restaurant until late.

The second morning starts with optional Tai Chi on the sundeck at six, or the gym if you prefer. Breakfast comes at seven, then at eight you paddle or take a bamboo boat into Dark and Bright Cave: the limestone formations here exist only in Lan Ha Bay, and the cave passages are narrow enough that you navigate them by hand on the rock. By nine-thirty you're back on board for checkout and an early lunch, then the tender boat returns you to Tuan Chau by late morning.
