Learn to cook salmon and vegetables the way a Seattle chef does, then eat the meal you made.

A private cooking class in Seattle where you cook three seasonal dishes with chef Brittney in her home overlooking Lake Union, then share the meal you prepared. You'll work with locally sourced Pacific Northwest ingredients (native salmon, black cod and fresh vegetables), and learn techniques for fish, sauces and sides. The class lasts about three hours and includes wine or beer with your meal.

The experience

Brittney's condo sits on Lake Union with views across the water. You'll arrive to a refreshing drink and stories about what it means to live in Seattle, then move into her open contemporary kitchen to start cooking. She sources her seafood from the only community-supported fishery in Washington, prioritizing sustainability and quality: the black cod and salmon come straight off the Washington coast. During the hands-on class, you'll cook three seasonal dishes: salt-crusted black cod or salmon with miso carrot puree, a cabbage and carrot slaw in ginger soy vinaigrette or lemon spinach quinoa salad, and a brown rice or grilled artisanal bread. You'll also learn the techniques behind the sauces that tie the plate together.

After cooking for about an hour and a half, you sit down at the table with Brittney to eat what you made. The meal comes with wine or beer, and the menu might draw on Mediterranean or Asian flavors while keeping the focus on Pacific Northwest ingredients. Vegetarian and vegan versions are available if you request them when you book. Her two Italian Greyhounds live in the home, and her husband may be present during your visit, though he doesn't participate in the experience.
