The experience
You arrive at Key Largo Dive Center, located at the Bayside Inn Key Largo Resort, having already completed the PADI e-Learning online. Day one starts with a review of that material, then you move into the pool for confined water training with your instructor: the controlled setting where you practice the skills you'll need underwater. In the afternoon, you board the dive center's custom boat for your first open water dives, applying what you just learned in the actual ocean environment.
Day two is all open water. You return to the boat for additional open water dives that complete your certification requirements. Because the dive center owns its own large custom boat rather than chartering one, they control which sites you train at and can tailor the experience to conditions and your progress. The staff here has decades of scuba experience collectively and the center holds a PADI 5-Star rating. They've received seven awards from Scuba Diving Magazine for quality, safety and service.
When you finish, you receive your PADI Open Water Diver Certification card. That credential means you can dive with a buddy on future dives without an instructor present. You're no longer limited to guided dives or confined to shallow water. The certification is recognized worldwide and opens access to dive sites and operators everywhere.

Is this one for you?You do the diving yourself under instructor guidance, not watching a demonstration. This is hands-on training where you operate the equipment and make the dives. The shared boat means you train alongside other students, and the two-day schedule fits a long weekend or a break in a longer trip. If you want to spread the course over more days or prefer private instruction, ask the dive center about other options at checkout.
