The experience

You start at Dubai Marina, where a certified instructor meets you for a briefing on the jet ski and safety procedures before you head out on the water. The route takes you first to the Burj Al Arab, the sail-shaped hotel built on its own island. You'll pull up close enough to photograph it, then continue on toward Palm Jumeirah. The second stop is Atlantis, the resort at the palm's center, where you get another chance to take photos with one of Dubai's most distinctive backdrops before heading back to the marina.

The whole ride runs about an hour. You're equipped with a life jacket and given bottled water. The instructor leads the way and controls the pace, so you're following rather than navigating. The route stays close to these two landmarks, which means you're riding in relatively sheltered water and seeing the city's most photographed spots from the sea side.
