You’ll ride a jet ski from Dubai Marina out toward Palm Jumeirah, feeling the wind and spray as you pass iconic spots like Atlantis and Burj Al Arab. With a local guide leading and snapping photos along the way, you’ll get both adrenaline and those quiet moments on open water you’ll remember long after the trip.
Gripping the handlebars, I could already taste the sea spray before our guide even finished his safety talk — he kept it light, joking about how everyone looks cooler in a life jacket (not sure that’s true for me). The marina was buzzing, sunlight bouncing off glass towers, and I remember thinking how unreal it felt to be about to jet ski in Dubai. There was this faint smell of sunscreen and engine oil mixed together — oddly comforting.
We followed our guide out past the breakwater, engines humming louder as we picked up speed. The water turned this deep turquoise, and suddenly Palm Jumeirah was right there — bigger than I’d pictured from photos. Our guide pointed out the curve of the island and slowed us down so we could get a good look at Atlantis rising up ahead. He offered to snap some pictures of us with Burj Al Arab in the background (I’m squinting in all of them but whatever). At one point I tried to say “Palm Jumeirah” in Arabic; he laughed and gave me a thumbs-up anyway.
I didn’t expect how peaceful it would feel once we stopped for water — just floating for a minute, city sounds muffled by distance. My arms were tired but I kind of wanted to keep going. On the way back, the sun was lower and everything looked gold. Still think about that view sometimes when I hear boats or smell saltwater — you know?
