The guide is local, knows the rhythm of the crowds, and can tell you why the Blue Mosque's tiles are actually that blue and not just painted that way.

You'll start at the Blue Mosque, where the light hits those famous tiles differently depending on the hour — your guide will position you so you see it right. Then across to Hagia Sophia, which stopped being a church and a mosque and is now a museum, and the scale of it still hits you even though you've seen the photos. The Hippodrome comes next, the old Byzantine racing ground that's now a plaza, and your guide will point out the obelisk and explain why it matters. After that, Topkapi Palace — one of the largest palaces in Istanbul, where the Ottoman Sultans actually lived for about 400 years — takes a solid chunk of time because there's a lot of ground to cover and the courtyards keep revealing new angles.
