You get a private guide and van for the full day, visiting Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. You choose your departure time, how long to spend at each site, and whether to stop for Turkish lunch. The guide meets you at your hotel or port and returns you on schedule, so you skip the logistics and keep the flexibility.
Is this one for you?Choose this if you want Istanbul's five major sites in one day without arranging transport, tickets, and timing yourself — the private guide and flexible schedule mean you see what matters most and skip the logistics.
The moment you realize you don't have to keep pace with a group is when the whole day changes. Your guide meets you at your hotel or port with a name sign, and from that point forward it's just your party, an air-conditioned van, and five of Istanbul's most significant sites — Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar. You choose when to leave, how long to linger at each stop, and whether to break for lunch at a local restaurant. No waiting for stragglers. No rushing through a courtyard because the schedule says so.
The Hippodrome is where you start — the guide will walk you through the space where chariot races and Byzantine riots once unfolded, and the scale of it hits differently when someone who knows the history is standing next to you. Then the Blue Mosque, famous for its Iznik tiles, which are exactly as blue as the photographs suggest. Hagia Sophia, built in 532 AD by Emperor Justinian I, requires headphones and a smartphone for the audio guide (the museum doesn't allow live narration inside anymore), but your guide explains the context before you enter, so you're not walking in blind. The palace comes next — Topkapi was the residence and administrative center of Ottoman sultans from 1460 onward, and you'll see the weapons section along with the courtyards and chambers. If it's a Tuesday, the palace closes and you visit the Underground Cistern instead; if it's Sunday, the Grand Bazaar is replaced by the Spice Market.
The Grand Bazaar itself is one of the world's oldest covered markets — 58 covered streets, over 1,200 shops, built in 1461. It's overwhelming in the best way, and having your guide there means you're not just wandering. You can stop for photographs whenever you want, and the driver will get you back to your port or hotel on time. If you're a cruise passenger, the return is guaranteed to match your ship's departure; if you're staying at a hotel, you set the end time during booking.
