Three Michelin-recognized dishes, one morning or evening, one guide who knows where they come from.

A 2-hour street food tasting in Chiang Mai led by a local guide, featuring three Michelin Bib Gourmand dishes from the city's most celebrated stalls. You taste Thana Ocha's Hakka-style pink noodle, Thai fried dough from Warorot Market, and steamed rice skin dumplings from Lung Khajohn Wat Ket—all included—and meet the vendors behind them. The group stays small, the pace unhurried, and the guide speaks English. Lunch and dinner options are available; private tours can include hotel transfer on the dinner option.

The Experience

Two hours is enough time to move through Warorot Market without hurrying from one stall to the next. You meet your guide in front of the Museum of Broken Relationships on Tha Pae Road and walk into the market's narrow passages, stopping at three separate vendors. The guide points out why each dish earned its Michelin recognition—not because it is fancy, but because it has been made the same way for decades and tastes like nothing else you will find.

The first stop is Thana Ocha, where you taste the Hakka-style pink noodle (Yen Ta Fo) that has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for six years. It arrives with house-made Hakka tofu, fish sausage and crispy wontons. The second is a Thai fried dough from a hidden stall in the market itself, served with a secret dipping sauce the vendor does not share with anyone outside the neighborhood. The third is Lung Khajohn Wat Ket's steamed rice skin dumplings—a recipe that has been in the family for decades, filled with a savory-sweet mixture that changes slightly depending on what came to market that morning. Bottled water is included; the guide carries it and refills happen between stops.

You choose between a lunch departure and a dinner one when you book. The lunch option is a small group tour; the dinner option can be private and includes a hotel transfer if you want it. Either way, all three dishes are included in the price, and the guide is there to explain the food history, not to rush you through it.
