The Experience

The morning tour starts at 9am at the Three Kings Monument in the Old City. Your guide takes you first to a family-run Kao Man Gai restaurant that has been serving the same poached chicken and rice dish since 1957 — a staple so simple that its quality depends entirely on technique and ingredients. From there you walk to Wat Chiang Man, the first temple built in the old city, then move on to a Kao Soi stop where your guide explains the history of Chiang Mai's signature noodle curry. The route includes the Wat Gate Community and a dessert destination for Sakoo Sai Hmoo and Kao Griap Paak Hmaw before crossing the Ping River on foot to Warorot Market, where the tour ends around 1pm. Inside the market — open for over a century — you stop at favorite stands for Golden Curl, Sai Oua (Northern Thai sausage), mango sticky rice and Thai iced tea.

The evening tour begins at 4pm at Warorot Market itself. You start with the same market stops, then stroll through the nearby Flower Market before riding to an authentic Northern Thai restaurant where you eat Gaeng Hunglay, Larb Moo, Khua Jim Som and an award-winning herbal salad called Yum Samunprai. Next is Wat Sadue Muang, a historical temple inside the Old City, followed by a final stop at Chang Puak Gate night market for street food — the well-known stewed pork leg on rice and freshly made rotee. The tour ends around 8pm.

A professional guide leads the whole experience in English, and bottled water comes with you throughout. All food tastings are included in the price.
